Social Events

We work hard and play hard. We gather for social events, too!

UMC Lions Burn Care Center

The UMC Lions Burn Care Center offers the highest level of burn care in Nevada, giving community members access to a world-class team of experts. For more than 50 years, it has operated as a nonprofit hospital supported by the Lions Clubs of Clark County to meet the needs of Nevadans and patients from surrounding states.

Camp Dat-So-La-Lee & Camp Lotza Fun

These camps provide a fun summer camp experience for financially disadvantaged children in Northern and Southern Nevada. West Charleston Lions have proudly served as volunteers and camp counselors.

Lions In Sight

West Charleston Lions have ventured to foreign lands along with optometrists to provide eye exams and free eyeglasses and assist in creating permanent clinics to distribute recycled eyeglasses. Recently, we have traveled to Peru and Mexico and have had a wonderful, rewarding time.

Student Speaker Contest

The Student Speaker Foundation provides an opportunity for competitive public speaking among students on a subject of vital interest to the contestants and to the American people as a whole.

White Cane Day

White Cane Day highlights the white cane as a universal symbol of independence, mobility, and safety for individuals who are blind or visually impaired, while promoting pedestrian safety laws and raising funds for sight conservation.

Eyeglass Cleaning & Sorting

Every year our club and others throughout Southern Nevada recycle tens of thousands of eyeglasses to be distributed around the world to those who cannot afford them. The glasses are collected, cleaned, and sorted by our dedicated members. They are then used for our Lions In Sight mission trips in the United States and across the globe where they are matched with needy patients.

Adopt-a-Family

For over 20 years, we have adopted families through the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation each holiday season. Together, we deliver carloads of gifts, help pay bills, repair vehicles, and more to make their holiday special.

Adopt-A-Highway

Lions volunteers pick up litter on our assigned two-mile stretch to help keep our community clean.

3

Blind Center of Nevada

For many years, we served meals once a month to members of the Blind Center. As needs have changed, so has our partnership. Now, we proudly assist members with their bowling field trip once a month.

Our Favorite Projects

Our club is passionate about serving wherever there is a need. Some of our favorite projects include supporting families through the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation during the holidays, providing vision care through Lions In Sight trips to Mexico and Peru, serving meals and assisting bowlers at the Blind Center of Nevada, and volunteering at Lions Camp Dat-So-La-Lee and Lions Camp Lotza Fun. We also support the UMC Lions Burn Care Center, participate in Adopt-A-Highway, and encourage young leaders through the Student Speaker Contest. Explore the projects below to discover more about our service and the lives we impact!
