Passing the Torch for Wellington Park: A Inspiring Legacy and Challenge from Lion President Cam & Rose Carter

Wellington Park has always been the heart of Simcoe, a lush, green gathering place with a history deeply intertwined with the community’s resilience. For Simcoe Lions Club President Cam Carter, the bond is deeply personal. Over ninety years ago, during the hardship of the Great Depression, his grandfather Percy Carter stepped forward to lead the revitalization of the park, transforming it into a lasting sanctuary for generations to come.

On October 1st, that family legacy of community service came full circle.

At our first meeting of the month, Lion President Cam Carter and Lady Lion Rose made a personal donation of $5,000 to the Norfolk District Community Foundation in support of the Wellington Park Project.

"This park holds a very special place in my family's history, and it remains a jewel in our community," Cam shared. "Seeing what has been accomplished in the past makes me even more passionate about the future of this space."

But Cam and Rose didn't just write a cheque; they threw down a friendly challenge. In presenting the donation, Lion President Cam encouraged fellow Lions, community leaders, and residents to consider making their own personal contributions to help support this signature club initiative.

The Wellington Park Project is an ambitious, legacy-building endeavor that requires a whole-community effort. By pitching in, we can ensure the park remains a beautiful, safe, and vibrant landmark for another century.

How You Can Get Involved and Donate: Your personal donation, no matter the size, makes a massive difference in bringing this vision to life:

  • Online: Make a fast, secure donation online and learn more about the master plan by visiting wellingtonpark.ca.

  • By Email: Reach out to Project Lead Doug Hunt to discuss how you or your business can contribute or learn more about the initiative.

Let’s answer President Cam's challenge and show Simcoe what the Lions and our friends can do when we work together. Thank you, Cam and Rose, for your incredibly generous leadership!
