Sharps Disposal
A new project started by Lion Jan, it will address the lack of public disposal sites for accumulated sharps (insulin, GLP-1s, etc.). The current focus is developing informational brochures and partnering with South King Fire to raise community awareness of, and access to, free mail-back programs for sharps disposal.

Ensuring Good Vision for All
This project encompasses several activities. We partner with local optometrists to collect old prescription glasses for redistribution to low-income individuals around the world. We provide referrals and financial support for eye exams and glasses. And we assist local elementary schools’ nursing staff with vision screening to ensure children can learn effectively.

In collaboration with other local service organizations (Kiwanis, Rotary, etc.), we support developing information literacy in local elementary schools. Third-grade students are presented with their own dictionary/resource book, are introduced to its use, and learn a bit about Lionism.

Sleepers for Newborns
This project ensures new mothers leave the hospital with the basics to keep their child clean and warm. Mothers with limited means receive a sleeper (a warmer type of onesie), a hand-sewn blanket, and six disposable diapers. Donations of new items for future packages are always appreciated!

Lions Scholarship Car Show
In partnership with local businesses and individuals, the Car Show raises funds for our Lions scholarships and some of our other projects. Held each August at the Commons Mall, the show features over 45 sponsored awards and more than 100 cars from around the region. Though the show itself is only one day, it requires roughly nine months of preparation!

Recognizing Federal Way Scholars
In partnership with Federal Way Public Schools (FWPS), we identify students at each middle and high school who demonstrate compassion, leadership, and a commitment to excellence. The selected graduating seniors receive scholarships, while the middle school students receive medals. All are celebrated at an event each Spring.
